A Confirmation Statement is document that a company must submit once a year.  The confirmation statement contains details of the the share holdings of the company, the capital and any changes in the type of industry that the company trades in, known as the SIC classification.

In reality, the confirmation statement is pretty pointless.  It actually serves as a mechanism to fund the government body that manages company registrations, and to ensure stale companies are removed from the register.  When a company submits its confirmation statement it is required to pay a yearly company registration fee.

The confirmation statement use to be known as an Annual Return.  Which was rather confusing, is was often mixed up with a company's Annual Accounts which is quite a different document!
